Mar\u00eda Dolores Flores Ruiz, conocida art\u00edsticamente como Lola Flores y apodada la Faraona1\u200b (Jerez de la Frontera, C\u00e1diz, 21 de enero de 1923-Alcobendas, Madrid, 16 de mayo de 1995), fue una artista espa\u00f1ola polifac\u00e9tica, pues era cantante, bailaora de flamenco y actriz; figura de extraordinaria popularidad durante decenios en Espa\u00f1a y en Latinoam\u00e9rica.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Cantante de copla que cuenta con cientos de grabaciones y canciones que han quedado en el recuerdo popular como himnos. Como bailaora enardeci\u00f3 a varias generaciones de distintos continentes. Como actriz interpret\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 35 pel\u00edculas, muchas de ellas ambientadas en el folclorismo andaluz, aunque tambi\u00e9n interpret\u00f3 rumbas y rancheras.2\u200b Fue una artista que se convirti\u00f3 en un s\u00edmbolo de una \u00e9poca de Espa\u00f1a3\u200b<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Con motivo de su actuaci\u00f3n en Nueva York, una cr\u00f3nica period\u00edstica escribi\u00f3: \u00abLola Flores, una artista espa\u00f1ola, no canta ni baila, pero no se la pierdan\u00bb.4\u200b Fue una de las primeras mujeres en la Espa\u00f1a de la posguerra en hablar libremente de temas considerados tab\u00fa como la violencia contra las mujeres, las relaciones extramatrimoniales o la prostituci\u00f3n.5\u200b<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Seg\u00fan las cr\u00f3nicas period\u00edsticas, entre el 16 y el 17 de mayo de 1995, pasaron por su capilla ardiente, situada en el Centro Cultural de la Villa de Madrid, m\u00e1s de 150 000 personas.<\/p>\r\n

Mar\u00eda Dolores Flores Ruiz, known artistically as Lola Flores and nicknamed La Faraona1 (Jerez de la Frontera, C\u00e1diz, January 21, 1923-Alcobendas, Madrid, May 16, 1995), was a multifaceted Spanish artist, as she was a singer, flamenco dancer and actress; figure of extraordinary popularity for decades in Spain and Latin America.<\/p>\r\n

Copla singer who has hundreds of recordings and songs that have remained in popular memory as hymns. As a dancer, she inflamed several generations from different continents. As an actress, she performed more than 35 films, many of them set in Andalusian folklore, although she also performed rumbas and rancheras.2 She was an artist who became a symbol of an era in Spain3<\/p>\r\n

On the occasion of her performance in New York, a journalistic chronicle wrote: “Lola Flores, a Spanish artist, does not sing or dance, but do not miss her”.4 She was one of the first women in post-war Spain to speak freely from topics considered taboo such as violence against women, extramarital relationships or prostitution.5<\/p>\r\n

According to the journalistic chronicles, between May 16 and 17, 1995, more than 150,000 people passed through his burning chapel, located in the Cultural Center of the Villa de Madrid.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
